Marquee

Around we anticipated a massive night, the launch of Marquee - The Star totally blew all expectations out of the water. The turnout was huge - so much so how the usual 20% no-show rate of RSVPs was unthinkable.
Promoters were instructed to turn away some late-comers inside the line when the club reached its 1200-person capacity in surprisingly small amount of time - no-one expects to be THAT popular. Some invitees queued for 2 hours with promoters soothing their nerves with complimentary servings of Moet. Daniel Ibrahim, Head of promoting and Promotions must have stood a celebratory glass himself to toast the achievement.

Inside the venue, celebrities were wall to wall - no mean feat thinking about the place is enormous (20,000 square feet more specifically) having a room to match every mood. Everyone from cricketing legend Glenn McGrath to Guns N’ Roses rocker Slash were dancing along to RedFoo and AfroJack’s crowd-pleasing (and expertly chosen) tracks. A couple of hiccups using the audio system couldn’t dim the enthusiasm from the guests, waving their glow-sticks on the 30-foot projection stage with gay abandon and shaking their stuff about the podiums.
